How to See Every Due Date Across All Canvas Courses in One View
Checking six separate courses for due dates is the single most repetitive part of using Canvas. Most students don't know Canvas already has a built-in way to see everything at once, and the ones who do usually run into its real limits fast.
The native fix: List View Dashboard
Your Canvas dashboard defaults to Card View, the grid of course tiles you land on when you log in. Canvas also has a List View option, which switches that grid into an agenda-style list of To Do items, assignments, calendar events, and announcements pulled from every course you're enrolled in, sorted by date. It's a real, built-in feature, not a workaround.
- Go to your Canvas dashboard.
- Look for the view-switcher icons near the top right of the dashboard (usually a grid icon and a list icon).
- Select the list icon to switch to List View.
Where List View actually falls short
Two real limits worth knowing before you rely on it:
- It ignores course favorites. Card View lets you star specific courses to declutter your dashboard; List View shows items from every enrolled course regardless, which gets noisy fast if you're enrolled in past terms or courses you're auditing.
- It mixes categories together. Assignments, calendar events, and announcements all show up interleaved in the same feed, so a due date can get buried between an event and a professor's announcement rather than standing on its own.
GPA Plus pulls just the due dates, from every course, into a single feed with none of the calendar-event or announcement noise. It's a free Chrome extension, no signup, and nothing about your assignments leaves your browser.
See how it worksAnother native option: the To Do sidebar
Outside List View, Canvas also keeps a running To Do list in the sidebar of the default Card View dashboard, showing upcoming graded work across your courses. It's more compact than List View but has the same category-mixing issue, and it only surfaces a handful of items at a time rather than a full view of what's coming.
If a due-date extension is more your speed than the native views, Tasks for Canvas is built specifically around this problem and is worth a look alongside GPA Plus's own feed.
